Hello, how come there are about 8 devices connected to my internet but my laptop is really laggy? And how do I improve my laptops internet connection?

Click your Start Button, type cmd and choose Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

ipconfig /flushdns

Run this command and hit Enter:

ipconfig /registerdns

Run this command and hit Enter:

netsh winsock reset

Run this command and hit Enter:

netsh int ip reset

Close Command Prompt

Open the Settings App

Go to Network and Internet

Click the Network Reset button

Wait for your laptop to automatically restart after 5 minutes, do not manually restart your laptop.

If that does not resolve the problem, go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and reinstall (not update) the version of WiFi (WLAN) drivers they provide.

A slow laptop internet connection can happen even when other devices are connected normally. Common causes include Wi‑Fi interference, distance from the router, physical obstructions, spyware or viruses, browser add-ons, low memory, low disk space, and too many programs running at the same time.

Try these steps in order:

1. Move closer to the router or access point Weak signal strength can slow the connection. Physical barriers between the laptop and the router can also reduce speed.
2. Reduce wireless interference Devices such as microwave ovens and 2.4 GHz cordless phones can interfere with Wi‑Fi. If possible, avoid using those near the laptop or router.
3. Try a different Wi‑Fi band If the router shows both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, connect the laptop to the other one and test performance.
4. Test with Ethernet if available Plug the laptop directly into the router with an Ethernet cable. If the connection improves, the issue is likely related to Wi‑Fi rather than the internet service itself.
5. Close unnecessary programs Programs using memory, CPU, or network bandwidth can make internet performance feel laggy.
6. Check for spyware and viruses Spyware and viruses can monopolize the internet connection and slow the system. Run antispyware and antivirus scans.
7. Review browser add-ons Some add-ons can slow browsing. Disable unnecessary browser toolbars or extensions.
8. Free up system resources Low memory and low disk space can affect browser and internet performance. Deleting temporary browser files and closing other apps can help.
9. Reset the network stack Open Command Prompt as administrator and run these commands in order:
   • netsh winsock reset
   • netsh int ip reset
   • ipconfig /release
   • ipconfig /renew
   • ipconfig /flushdns
10. Use Network reset as a last step Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset and select Reset now. Note: Network reset removes and reinstalls network adapters and resets networking settings to default. It might require reinstalling VPN software or virtual switches afterward, and known networks may be set to a public profile.

If the laptop is the only device affected, the problem is likely on the laptop itself rather than the number of devices connected.
