integrated camera has stopped working.

Since a recent update my integrated camera has stopped working. I am also getting this error message 0xc0000020. How do i resolve this? Thank you in advance.

Error 0xc0000020 usually points to corrupted system files or drivers. Checking how Device Manager is detecting the camera is the best first step.

Please check the camera's Device Status:

Press "Windows + X" and select "Device Manager";
Click on the "View" menu and select "Show hidden devices";
Expand "Cameras";

If the camera is listed, right-click and select "Properties". Check if there is an error in "Device Status".

Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the screenshot tool.

Since there are no errors reported under Device status, I believe the issue is a corrupted system file or app dependency resulting from the update.

Start by checking this:

Ensure the physical privacy shutter on top of your laptop's camera lens is fully open (the red dot should not be visible);

If the Lenovo Vantage app is installed, open it, go to "Display & Camera" (or Device Settings), and make sure "Camera Privacy Mode" is turned off.

If it persists, I suggest you use the system file checker to repair possible corrupted system files.

Open Start and type cmd, right-click on "Command Prompt", and select "Run as administrator".

Run the following commands at the Command Prompt one at a time:

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup sfc /scannow

Note: Pay close attention to the results of the commands. This will help you determine whether the procedure was completed successfully or if there was a problem. If you get any errors, let me know the error message that was displayed.

Restart (not shutdown) the PC and see if the problem is resolved.
