I am trying to set up a new laptop but I keep receiving the message “That Microsoft account does not exist“. I have tried all of the recommendations I have seen on other posts with no luck. I do not believe my email address is an alias but it is an email address and a Microsoft account acquired through GoDaddy. Here is what I have tried so far:

Set up laptop using a local account since it would not recognize my Microsoft account email.
Then went to Settings > Account > Your Info and then “Sign in with a Microsoft account instead“ and receive the same error “That Microsoft account does not exist“
As recommended on an answer here, I then went to https://login.live.com/ and I get the same error “That Microsoft account does not exist“

I can login to my Microsoft account and look at all my information under My Account. I do not see any other emails or aliases or anything that would cause me to receive and error that the account does not exist. Clearly it does exist as I am staring at my account information!!

    Hello TreFleming

I would recommend to check with your supplier of the account, in this case Godaddy to reviewthe account associations. Sometimes it happens that cloud accounts that are set up as work email will not be considered Microsoft live accounts.

One thing is for sure, if live.com tells that the account doesn't exist, then is neither a problem on the Microsoft Servers or Windows, but an issue of the account configuration, associated organizations, or even a Contact email for the account that is different than the account itself in Microsoft (something like an alias).
