For the email issue, adding memory to a Gmail account is not the fix. The supported causes here are Outlook connectivity, sync, password, antivirus scanning, large attachments, and general PC performance.
Try this in order:
- Check internet connectivity
Open a browser and try loading
http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com. If those do not load, fix the network connection first.
- Force a manual sync in classic Outlook
In Outlook, go to the View tab and select Sync. Watch for the status message at the bottom of the message list while Outlook syncs.
Note: third-party accounts such as Gmail do not have the same manual Sync button capability.
- Check for a stuck message in Outbox
Open the Outbox and start with the oldest unsent message. If it has an attachment larger than 20 MB, remove it and attach a smaller file or a link instead.
- If the password was changed recently, update it in Outlook
A recent password change can stop sending and receiving until Outlook has the updated credentials.
- Check antivirus email scanning
Some antivirus products scan email and can block sending or receiving after detecting a virus.
- Reduce PC slowdowns caused by resource pressure
Slow performance can come from:
- spyware or viruses
- browser add-ons
- too many running programs
- low disk space
- low memory
Close unnecessary programs first. If several programs must stay open, more RAM can help because more memory lets the device do more at the same time without slowdowns.
- If Outlook itself is slow
Too many messages in the Inbox can slow synchronization. Move older messages to On My Computer Inbox in Outlook for Mac, or export/archive older items if that matches the setup.
If the main symptom is can’t send email from Outlook with Gmail, the most relevant checks are: internet connection, password changes, Outbox attachments over 20 MB, and antivirus email scanning.
