This is usually an MFA loop: the app is asking for approval from the same app that is not currently usable on the device.

    Try these checks first:

    1. Open Microsoft Authenticator directly and make sure it is unlocked.
    2. Make sure notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator and are not silent.
    3. Update to the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator.
    4. Check that the phone has a working internet connection. Switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data can help.
    5. Verify the device date and time are correct.

If the sign-in page shows it, select Other ways to sign in and then choose Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app.

If the account is a work or school account, Authenticator may need to be unlocked before the sign-in can be confirmed.

If the app was removed, the phone was changed, or no code/approval prompt appears, the registered authentication method may need to be reset or re-registered. For a school or work account, that typically requires the organization’s IT admin to reset MFA or require re-registration.

If the issue continues after the checks above, send diagnostic logs from Authenticator: Authenticator app menu > Send feedback.
