Welcome R B,
I understand why this is confusing, especially if you have been using Copilot regularly for a long time without seeing this message.
Microsoft has changed its Copilot offerings and usage policies over time. The free version of Copilot is still available, but some AI features are now subject to usage limits, and paid plans provide higher usage allowances and additional capabilities. Microsoft's current Copilot plans page notes that Microsoft 365 subscriptions include higher usage than free for certain Copilot features, while free users may have more limited access. Because of these service changes, it is possible for a user who previously used Copilot extensively to now encounter a daily limit message in the iPhone app without having changed devices. The switch to a new iPhone itself would not normally create a subscription requirement, but signing into a different Microsoft account or changes to the service tiers could affect what limits are applied.
Could you confirm:
- Are you signed into the same personal Microsoft account that you used on your previous iPhone?
- What is the exact wording of the daily limit or subscription message shown in the Copilot app?
You can also compare the signed-in account in the old and new devices by opening Copilot and checking the account shown under“Profile”.
