Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Dear Sea Fox Holdings LLC,
This issue is usually caused by a mismatch between the account’s port and encryption settings in Outlook. Because nc.rr.com is a third-party POP/IMAP account, Outlook must use the exact server, port, and encryption values supplied by that email provider. Kindly try these steps:
Close Outlook, open Control Panel, search for Mail, and select Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
Select Email Accounts, highlight the nc.rr.com account, and select Change.
Verify the Incoming mail server, Outgoing mail server (SMTP), username, and password against the settings supplied by your provider.
Select More Settings, then open the Advanced tab.
Match each port with its corresponding encryption setting:
- POP commonly uses port
995with SSL/TLS. - IMAP commonly uses port
993with SSL/TLS. - SMTP commonly uses port
587with STARTTLS/TLS. These are common secure combinations, but use the provider’s specific values rather than assuming they apply tonc.rr.com. It is confirms that port and encryption settings must be configured as matching pairs.
Open the Outgoing Server tab and select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Select OK, then Test Account Settings.

Note:
Do not combine port 110 or 143 with SSL/TLS unless the provider explicitly directs you to do so. For secure connections, the commonly paired ports are POP 995 and IMAP 993.
If the provider specifies SMTP port 587, choose STARTTLS or TLS, not SSL/TLS, unless its documentation says otherwise.
Leave Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) disabled unless the provider specifically requires it.
If two-factor authentication is enabled, the provider may require an app password instead of the normal account password.
If Outlook’s test still returns 0x800CCC1A, remove and re-add the account using File > Add Account > Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually, then enter the verified POP/IMAP and SMTP settings.
I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction.
