My cursor has been riding up the screen whenever im using the laptop, and i know its nothing to do with the touchpad because when i switched off my touchpad in settings the cursor would still move up the screen. How do I fix this issue?

    Hi, let me help you.

Have you tried a hard reset?

    Turn off the laptop.

    Unplug the charger.

    Remove all USB devices.

If the battery is removable → remove the battery.

Press and hold the Power button for 30–60 seconds.

    Reinsert the battery (if removed).

    Plug in the charger.

    Turn the laptop on.

Since the cursor still drifts with the touchpad turned off, start by checking the mouse hardware and connection instead of the touchpad.

    1. If an external mouse or USB receiver is connected, unplug it, wait a few seconds, and reconnect it.
    2. Try a different USB port.
    3. If the mouse is connected through a USB hub, remove the hub and connect the mouse directly to the PC.
    4. If the mouse is wireless, replace or recharge the batteries and, if available, use the device or receiver Reset button.
    5. Check for dirt or damage around the mouse sensor or buttons.
    6. Test the mouse on another PC. If the same drifting happens there, the mouse likely needs to be replaced.

If the drifting happens only on the laptop and not with the mouse on another PC, update or reinstall the pointing device driver:

    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Look under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices.
    3. Update the driver through Windows Update or Device Manager.
    4. If updating does not help, reinstall the device driver from Device Manager.

If the problem continues after that, the device manufacturer should be contacted for further help.
