If the mouse is a Bluetooth mouse, use these steps:

1. Make sure the mouse has power.
   • If it uses batteries, check or replace them.
   • Turn the mouse on.
2. Put the mouse into pairing mode.
   • Press and hold the pairing button on the bottom of the mouse for about 5–7 seconds until the light starts blinking.
   • On some Microsoft mice, the LED flashes after about 3–5 seconds.
3. On the laptop, open Bluetooth settings.
   • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth
   • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth
4. Select the mouse when it appears, then finish setup.
   • After pairing, the light should stop flashing.

If the mouse does not appear or does not connect:

1. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on the laptop.
2. Turn airplane mode on for 10–15 seconds, then turn it off.
3. Turn off other Bluetooth devices connected to the laptop, because too many Bluetooth devices can interfere.
4. Remove the mouse from the Bluetooth device list and pair it again.
5. Test the mouse with another PC if possible.
   • If it works on another PC, the issue may be with the laptop.
6. If the pairing light flashes three times and then turns off, the mouse is already paired to another PC nearby. Remove it from that PC first, then pair it again.

If the mouse is a wireless USB receiver mouse instead of Bluetooth, it will not appear in Bluetooth settings. In that case:

1. Plug the USB receiver into a USB port.
2. Make sure the mouse is turned on and has working batteries.
3. Wait a few seconds for Windows to detect it.
4. If needed, try a different USB port and restart the laptop.
