Having Problems with Edge

When I am online and want to watch a YouTube video or typing a message to you now, I get these pop ups showing inspect, back, translate and other options and I can't get it to stop. Is this an issue with Windows 11 or Edge? Did the latest update have a glitch in it.

Please help

This is more likely an Edge setting, extension, or browsing-data issue than a known Windows 11 update glitch based on the available guidance.

Try these steps in order:

  1. Disable extensions first
    • In Edge, select the Extensions icon, then Manage Extensions.
    • Turn off all extensions and test YouTube and text entry again.
    • If the problem stops, turn extensions back on one at a time to find the one causing the pop-up menu behavior.
  2. Check for ad-blocking or antivirus extensions
    • If any ad-blocking or antivirus extensions are installed, temporarily disable them.
    • These can interfere with websites and cause unwanted pop-ups or overlays.
  3. Make sure Edge is up to date
    • Go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
    • If an update is available, install it and restart Edge.
  4. Clear browsing data
    • Go to Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
    • Select All time for Time range.
    • Clear Browsing history and Cached images and files.
    • Then test again.
  5. Clear all browsing data if needed
    • In the same Delete browsing data area, choose All time and select all boxes, then Clear now.
    • This is broader than clearing cache and may remove site data, so some sites may require signing in again.
  6. Scan the device for malware
    • Run a manual scan with Windows Security.
    • This is recommended when pop-ups or unusual browser behavior continue.
  7. If Edge becomes unresponsive because of the pop-up
    • Right-click Start > Task Manager.
    • Select Processes.
    • Under Apps, right-click Microsoft Edge > End task.
    • Reopen Edge and test again.

If the issue continues after these steps, Edge can also be repaired from: Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair

My extensions are turned off and so far no more pop ups. I hope it continues. I will also clear my browsing history. I appreciate your help.I use Avast VPN, clean up, breach guard and driver update.

    Hi, @Beverly McKinney

The menu showing "Inspect," "Back," "Translate," and similar options is the right-click menu in Edge. If it is appearing without you right-clicking, the mouse or touchpad may be triggering it.

    Try these first:

    • Restart the computer.
    • If you use an external mouse, disconnect it and test Edge using only the touchpad.
    • If this is a laptop, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad > Taps and temporarily turn off "Tap with two fingers to right-click."
    • Also check whether the same right-click menu appears by itself in File Explorer or another app.

    To help narrow this down:

    1. Are you using a laptop or desktop, and are you using an external mouse?
    2. Does the menu appear even when you are not touching the mouse or touchpad?
    3. Does this only happen in Edge, or does it happen elsewhere in Windows too?
    4. In Edge, open edge://settings/help and let me know the version number shown there.

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!
