Computer password

Question

Microsoft requires a password for me to sign in to my computer. I am told this is because I am using the Microsoft account that is on another computer in our home. I have lost that password information. How can I get a new password to sign in to my computer?

If neither of the above works for you, then because this is a Microsoft Forum it is against the Code of Conduct for us to provide a method to bypass a Windows Password, I hope you understand.

The options you then have is to Reset Windows, or clean install Windows 10 from a bootable USB

If the PC sign-in uses a Microsoft account, the password must be reset for that Microsoft account first.

Use one of these supported options:

1. On the Windows sign-in screen, select I forgot my password.
2. If available, select Sign-in options > Web sign-in, sign in, then select Forgot my password.
3. From another device or browser, use Reset password: Reset password

To reset the password online:

1. Enter the Microsoft account username and select Next.
2. Choose where to receive the verification code.
3. Enter the requested recovery details and select Get code.
4. Enter the verification code.
5. Create a new password.

If the password is known and only needs to be changed after signing in to Windows:

1. Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
2. Select Password > Change.
3. If the current password is forgotten, select Forgot my current password and follow the verification steps.

If no verification option is available, or the shown recovery email/phone cannot be accessed, use the Sign-in Helper tool: Sign-in Helper

Important:

• Microsoft support cannot retrieve or bypass a lost password.
• Support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details.
