Hello All,

I have run into an issue with the copilot on my Dell computer. I have had this computer for less than a year and it came with copilot installed. I went to open copilot today and this is the screen I keep receiving. I have tried refreshing, redownloading and restarting my computer but nothing is working. If you know a solution to this issue it would be a big help. If you need more information, please let me know. Screenshot 2026-09-09 193254

I had the same issue on Windows 11 and noticed there was a security update ( KB5124008 ) that had installed last night. Copilot is unaffected on IOS, so I asked it were there any known issues with copilot as a result of the KB5124008 update.

I followed the fix below by amending the local group policy setting and Copilot is now loading again on my Windows 11 device.

**Copilots Response: ** KB5124008 is currently breaking Windows Copilot on Windows 11 for a large number of users. The update appears to reset or corrupt the Copilot integration layer (WebView2 + Windows Copilot policy), causing Copilot to either not open at all or remain stuck in a loading state. This matches the pattern seen in earlier updates like KB5055523 and KB5074109, which caused identical failures.  digitnaut.com

Below is the exact fix sequence that works for KB5124008‑related Copilot failures.

🟦 Immediate Fix (works for most users)

    1. Reset the Copilot Group Policy toggle

KB5124008 is resetting the Copilot policy on many machines.

    1. Press Win + R → type gpedit.msc → Enter
    2. Go to:

User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Copilot

    1. Open Turn off Windows Copilot
    2. Set it to Disabled

(Yes, “Disabled” means Copilot is allowed.)  digitnaut.com

    1. Restart Windows

    Hello Anthony Magnanti,

Sorry you're running into this — that "something went wrong, try reloading" screen is frustrating, especially when a restart/redownload hasn't cleared it.

A couple of quick things to narrow it down:

    • Can you try Copilot through the web version (copilot.microsoft.com) and see if it loads fine there? That tells us if it's an app-specific issue or something with your account/service.
    • What build of Windows are you on (Win + R → winver)?

    In the meantime, worth trying:

    • Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Copilot > Advanced options > Repair (then Reset if Repair doesn't help)
    • Make sure Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is up to date, since Copilot relies on it to render
    • If it's been stuck since a recent update, try pausing updates for a few days in case it's a rollout-side issue

Let me know what you find on the web version and build number, and we can narrow it down from there.
