Outlook Web- Messages Missing

I have used my Hotmail account for many years (20+) without any issues. However, recently I have noticed that I am no longer receiving certain emails that I should be receiving.

For example, I am currently not receiving important emails from companies such as:

  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Home Depot
  • Royal Caribbean
  • Other companies, particularly emails related to orders, purchases, sales receipts, and confirmations

What is especially confusing is that these companies are still able to send me promotional emails, advertisements, sales hikes and one-on-one messages. However, important transactional emails—such as order confirmations, purchase receipts, booking confirmations, and other account-related messages—are not reaching my Hotmail inbox. These messages that are not getting to my Hotmail account- DO get to my gmail account that I use as a back up, but do not monitor regularly.

I have already taken the following steps:

  • Added these companies/senders to my Safe Senders list.
  • Checked my Blocked Senders list, and these companies or domains are not blocked.
  • Checked my inbox and other folders for the missing messages.
  • Totally removed all filters and blocks.
  • Contacted the senders to verify they are sending properly.

Despite the above steps, the problem continues.

I hate to change to gmail as my primary e-mail account because I have 20+ years built up in contact link information.

Microsoft has tightened up the requirements for "High Volume Senders"

    See https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/microsoftdefenderforoffice365blog/strengthening-email-ecosystem-outlook%E2%80%99s-new-requirements-for-high%E2%80%90volume-senders/4399730

And this has caused many legitimate emails to never be delivered. Just a sample of some similar recent reports:

All you can do is contact the senders to advise them that their emails to you are being blocked by the Microsoft Mail Servers and give them the link above about "High Volume Senders".

these companies are still able to send me promotional emails, advertisements .. However, important transactional emails ... are not reaching my Hotmail inbox.

Very common. Most large corporation (and many small ones) out-source their promotional email campaigns to specialist, who are very careful to follow all the Microsoft requirements, so that the mail gets through (even if only to your Junk folder). And of course the Spammers react almost immediately to any Microsoft policy changes to ensure their garbage is always delivered.

The other action you can take is to Vote for and Comment on this Feature Request,

So that we get some kind of notification when Microsoft blocks an email from even reaching our mailbox, and allows us to add that Sender to a list so that future emails get through, even if the sender does not meet the Microsoft requirements.
