in:anywherebut New Outlook continues to display it and refuses to move it to Deleted Items.
That strongly suggests this may be a synchronization issue between Gmail and the copy of the mailbox that New Outlook maintains in the Microsoft Cloud, rather than a Gmail-side deletion problem.
New Outlook does not simply read Gmail directly. Microsoft documents that Gmail data is synchronized into Microsoft Cloud so Outlook can provide its additional features.
Since you already removed the account “from all devices,” I would try one more clean reauthorization:
- Close New Outlook completely.
Sign in to your Google Account in a browser.
Go to Security → Your connections to third-party apps and services.
Find Microsoft/Outlook access and remove the existing connection.
Reopen New Outlook.
Go to Settings → Accounts → Your accounts.
Remove the Gmail account if it is still present.
Restart Outlook.
Add the Gmail account again and approve the Google permissions when prompted.
Before doing this, make sure there are no Outlook-only drafts or unsynchronized items you need to keep.
After reconnecting, check whether the message reappears.
If Gmail still shows no trace of the message but New Outlook recreates it again, I would consider this a strong candidate for a Microsoft Cloud synchronization/cache issue rather than something you can delete from Gmail.
At that point, I would report it through Outlook feedback and include:
the message subject (
CM-03238)the message date
confirmation that Gmail
in:anywherereturns nothingconfirmation that deleting it in New Outlook does not move it to Deleted Items
confirmation that removing and re-adding the Gmail account reproduces the issue
There have been other reports of “ghost” items persisting in New Outlook even when they are no longer present in the source mailbox, so I would not keep repeatedly deleting the message or changing Gmail settings.
