cannot edit or save my microsoft documents

I own a Microsoft office 2019 software. I have a new MacBook laptop i have uninstalled it on my previous laptop then installed office 2019 on my new laptop. Now i can't edit my office documents. When i purchased my office software last 2019 i understand that i can use it until i get rid of it. I am ok without the security updates how can i use my office software without updating to 365.

Starting July 13, 2026, Office 2019 for Mac entered reduced functionality mode because its licensing certificate can no longer be updated. Office may still open documents, but it can no longer activate for editing, saving, or creating files. The 0x0 error is part of that activation failure.

Microsoft confirms that Office 2019 for Mac cannot be updated to the required version, and reinstalling Office 2019 will not resolve it.

The available options are:

1. Use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint online for free through Microsoft 365 for the web.
2. Purchase a supported version such as Office Home 2024.
3. Subscribe to Microsoft 365.

Your existing documents are not deleted or damaged, but Office 2019 for Mac can no longer be restored to full editing mode through activation troubleshooting.

Office 2019 for Mac is no longer a supported path for full editing on a new Mac in this scenario.

Supported facts from Microsoft:

1. Office 2019 for Mac support ended on October 10, 2023.
2. Build 16.78 is the last build that supports Office 2019 license types.
3. On newer macOS/Office combinations, Office can enter reduced functionality mode, where files can be opened and printed but cannot be edited or saved.
4. Microsoft states that for Office 2019 for Mac, the option is to upgrade to Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 for Mac.

If upgrading to a newer version is chosen, Microsoft says there is no need to remove the Office apps. Only the old Office 2019 license needs to be removed:

1. Run the License Removal Tool: Download and run the License Removal Tool
2. Open any Office app and sign in with the account for the new purchase.
3. In the app menu, select Help > Check for Updates.

If Office was installed from the Mac App Store, that can also cause a license mismatch because the Mac App Store Office apps are not compatible with Office 2019 licenses.
