Login failed

Question

Windows security asks me to login but the login keeps failing. The message is:

Oops, something went wrong

Whatever happened, it was probably our fault. Please try again.

Hi Kolawole,

First, try signing in to the same Microsoft account in a web browser. If the account works there, the problem is more likely with the Windows sign-in connection on the PC rather than the account itself.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts, remove the affected Microsoft account under “Accounts used by other apps,” restart the PC, and then add it again. Also check Settings > Time & language > Date & time and make sure the time is set automatically and synchronized. Similar Windows sign-in errors can occur when the locally cached account connection is no longer syncing correctly.

If it still fails, let us know whether this happens when signing in to Windows itself, Windows Security, or only a particular Microsoft app, as the next troubleshooting steps are different.
