Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
Use the least disruptive path first so the data currently visible on the PC is not disturbed.
- Verify whether the calendar and mail data still exist outside the iPhone.
- Check Outlook on the PC.
- If possible, also check whether the same mailbox/calendar content appears in web mail.
- If the data is still present there, this is a mobile sync/setup issue rather than data loss.
- On the iPhone Outlook app, try an account reset before removing anything again.
- In Outlook for iOS, go to Settings > tap the account that is not syncing > Reset Account.
- Then check whether mail, calendar, and contacts begin syncing.
- If reset does not work, delete and re-add the account in the Outlook app on the iPhone only.
- In Settings, tap the account > Delete Account > Delete From This Device.
- Re-add the account in Outlook for iOS.
- This affects the account on the phone, not the copy currently accessible on the PC.
- Make sure the account is not being added as IMAP if calendar/contacts sync is required.
- IMAP and POP can sync email only.
- They do not sync calendar or contacts.
- Calendar and contacts require Exchange ActiveSync or Exchange.
- If setup prompts only for IMAP, the provider may not support calendar/contact sync in that configuration.
- If the account was previously syncing and then stopped, treat it as a sync issue rather than first-time setup.
- Check whether there is an Outlook.com service issue.
- If email works on the computer and there is no outage, the issue may be with the mobile app configuration.
- If using a non-Microsoft email app or provider-specific setup, confirm modern authentication support.
- For non-Microsoft email apps, the app should use the Outlook.com option if available.
- If that option is not available, the app must support Modern Authentication for EAS, POP, IMAP, and SMTP.
- If it does not, using Outlook is the recommended path.
- If the account is a work or school Exchange/Microsoft 365 account, contact the Microsoft 365 admin or technical support.
- For Outlook app or Outlook.com account issues, contact Microsoft support.
- For iPhone Mail app issues, Apple support is the correct support path, but for the Outlook app this is a Microsoft support scenario.
Because the account is comcast.net, calendar/contact sync may depend on whether the account can be added as Exchange/Exchange ActiveSync rather than IMAP. If the setup only offers IMAP, email may work but calendar and contacts will not sync through that protocol.
