For the last 48+ hours, while trying to get into my Hotmail account, I get stuck on a page between user name and password. The page says:
Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key
Your device will open a security window. Follow the instructions there to sign in.
If I hit the back button, it takes me back to the above. If I arrow back, I get the following error message:

The help page only tells me to reset my password, which is stupid because I can't reach the password page to use it. How do I fix this?

According to this error message, it appears you might not be using the right URL.
Can you launch your web browser in incognito/inprivate mode, then go to https://www.outlook.com, then sign in. Let me know if it allows you to access.
Tried it, didn't work. Cleared cache, tried again. Still no love.
What about https://account.live.com
or https://www.office.com
Can you get into those?
Yeah, no problem. I can log into an outlook email, too. Just the Hotmail giving me fits. Next step is beating it with a shoe. Probably won't fix it but it'll make me feel better. 😬
Ok, if you can get to www.office.com, then click on the 9-dot icon on the upper left, then go to outlook from there. Does it hit the error again?

Yup. Same error. It seems to only be this account through this log in method.

Oh, and I've tried different devices, too. If that makes any difference...
Then I think this has to be a server side issue. I've seen similar one like this in the past and it is usually temporary and will resolve on its own.
It's been over 48 hours and I really need to access th8s account for work stuff. I guess soon is relative. Thanks for trying, though!
Yeah, I wish I could tell you when, but since I am independent, I have no intel on that.
But something might be worth trying.
Since you could access https://account.live.com.
Go to Your info > Sign in preference.
Add an alias, choose add existing one, and add a gmail or yahoo, third party email address.
Then use that alias to sign into outlook.com, see if it lets you. Once again, do it in incognito mode.
