My son is having problem with redeeming Minecraft gift card code that I bought for him, with the error "This code can't be redeemed. It was purchased in a different region from your account" although my son and I are in the same country (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and both our accounts are set to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A region mismatch error can still occur even when both accounts show the same country. Microsoft gift cards and codes are region-restricted: the currency and code must match the Microsoft account’s registered jurisdiction, and the balance cannot be converted to another currency.

    Try this redemption path first:

    1. Redeem on the web instead of the app: go to https://www.microsoft.com/redeem.
    2. Sign in with the exact Microsoft account that should receive Minecraft.
    3. Enter the code carefully and complete the prompts.

If the same error appears, the supported next step is to contact Microsoft Support for account/code review. A similar Microsoft Q&A case with the same “different region” error was resolved by directing the customer to Contact Support after confirming the account region.

    Also note:

    • Microsoft account balance is non-transferable between accounts.
    • If the wrong code type was purchased, the retailer must be contacted.
    • If the code was bought from a third party, that seller’s return policy applies.

For support, use Contact Microsoft Support.
