    Please first restart the computer, then install any pending updates under Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

    If Media Player still does not open:

    1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    2. Find Media Player, select the three dots, then Advanced options.
    3. Select Repair first. If that does not help, select Reset.

    Resetting removes the app’s custom settings, but it should not delete your media files. You can also open the Get Help app, search for Windows Media Player troubleshooter, and follow the prompts

    If the problem continues, please confirm whether you use Windows 10 or Windows 11, and whether the error appears when opening Media Player itself or only a particular file.
