For MSN news article commenting, the only documented way to keep using the current name and get the restriction reviewed is to submit feedback directly from MSN.
What is supported:
- Open any MSN article page that has comments.
- Select Feedback at the bottom right of the MSN page.
- In the feedback, state:
- commenting became restricted last month
- the same real name has been used for years
- the name should remain unchanged
- any message shown about changing the name
- that comments are blocked across articles
- Submit the feedback for MSN to review the moderation status on its side.
Important details from the available guidance:
- MSN comment restrictions and blocks are handled by MSN’s own moderation systems and support channels.
- Standard Microsoft Q&A and similar support channels cannot see or change the reason for the restriction.
- There is no separate documented escalation path for MSN comment unblocks beyond the MSN Feedback option.
- MSN moderation can be automated, and normal accounts or comments can be flagged incorrectly.
If the issue is with the Microsoft account name itself on Windows or the Microsoft account profile, the name can be changed from the Microsoft account Your info page, but that is optional and not required to report an MSN commenting restriction. Microsoft account display name changes can take up to 24 hours to update everywhere.
If sign-in to the Microsoft account is also failing, use the Sign-in helper. If account access is needed beyond that, use Contact Microsoft Support. Support agents are not allowed to change account details directly.
