    Hi, let me help you.

Please go to Settings > System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Where new content is saved, and make sure "New videos will save to" points to a drive that exists and has free space. If it's set to a disconnected external drive or a folder that's gone missing, switch it back to your local C: drive. Then open File Explorer, look at Pictures, and confirm the "Camera Roll" folder exists inside it. If it's missing, create it by hand, or right-click Pictures, choose Properties > Location > Restore Default. Also check that the folder isn't set to read-only.

This error can occur when the Camera app cannot create or write the video file.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Recreate the Camera Roll folder.
      • Select Start > File Explorer.
      • Select This PC > the OS disk, usually OSDisk (C:).
      • In Windows 11, select New > Folder and name it Camera Roll.
      • Right-click the new folder, then select Include in library > Camera Roll. If needed in Windows 11, select Show More Options first.
      • Try recording again.
    2. Check permissions on the Camera Roll folder.
      • In File Explorer, select Pictures.
      • Right-click Camera Roll > Properties.
      • Open Security.
      • Under Group or user names, select the currently signed-in user.
      • Make sure Write is set to Allow.
      • Try recording again.
    3. Make sure camera access is enabled.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Turn on Camera access and Let apps access your camera.
    4. Run the automated camera troubleshooter.
      • Open Get Help and run the camera troubleshooter.
    5. If the issue happens only at certain video resolutions, use a lower resolution or change the aspect ratio.
      • Windows can show a recording error when the camera resolution is above H.264 or Video Stabilization limits.
      • If that is the cause, the unsupported resolution should not be offered by the camera driver.
    6. If the problem continues, reinstall the camera driver.
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • Double-click the camera, open the Driver tab, and select Uninstall Device.
      • If shown, select Attempt to remove the driver for this device, then select Uninstall.
      • Restart the PC.

If the device is a Surface, also try a forced restart: Start > Power > Shut down, wait a moment, then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
