Which vector DB or graph DB does Microsoft Graph use for Copilot connectors?

Hi Team,

Copilot connectors index external content into Microsoft Graph (docs: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/connecting-external-content-connectors-overview).

Can someone confirm which database technology is used to store and query this indexed content — is it a vector database, a graph database, or something else? I couldn't find this mentioned in the official docs and wanted to check with the community.

Thanks,

Prabhjot

The official documentation does not name a specific underlying database product for Copilot connectors.

    What it does state is:

    • Synced Copilot connectors ingest external items by using the Microsoft Graph connectors API.
    • The ingested items are stored in the Microsoft Graph index and become part of the organization’s cloud search index.
    • That indexed content is full-text searchable and processed by semantic indexing AI for relevance.
    • Federated connectors do not index content into Microsoft 365 at all; they fetch data in real time from the source system.

Based on the documented behavior, Copilot connectors are described as using the Microsoft Graph index / cloud search index, not as exposing a user-selectable vector database or graph database implementation.
