    Hi, @Kent and Pam Bailo

Are you stuck on the Windows Hello sign-in screen on the desktop, such as being asked for a PIN, fingerprint, or face recognition?

Also, is the Windows account signed in using the same Microsoft/Outlook email address you can access online?

If you can still access your Microsoft account online, you can change the Microsoft account password here:

    https://account.microsoft.com/security

Select "Change password" and follow the prompts.

If the desktop is asking for a Windows Hello PIN instead, changing the Microsoft account password may not be enough, so let me know exactly what appears on the sign-in screen.

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!

For an Outlook.com or other Microsoft personal account, the password is changed on the Microsoft account site.

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com and sign in with the current password.
    2. If already signed in, open Security and select Change Password.
    3. Enter the new password.
    4. Select Save.

If the desktop is locked and the current password is not known, this is not a password change scenario. Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper or the password reset flow instead. Microsoft support cannot send password reset links or change account details on behalf of the account owner.

If this is a work or school account instead of a personal Microsoft account:

    1. Go to myaccount.microsoft.com.
    2. Sign in with the existing password.
    3. Select Change Password from the left pane.
    4. Enter the old password, then the new password, and select Submit.

If the work or school account is locked out or the password is forgotten, use the self-service reset flow at mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and select Can't access your account?
