Deleted authentication code

Question

I deleted my authentication code for instagram on the authentication app and now i have no acces to my instagram account because that’s the only way i could log in. What can i do

If the Instagram entry was deleted from Microsoft Authenticator, there is no undelete option in the app.

What can still be done:

1. Try restoring Authenticator only if backup was enabled before deletion.
   • Open Microsoft Authenticator.
   • Use Restore from backup or Begin recovery.
   • Sign in with the same recovery account used for the backup.
   • Important: backup and restore only works on the same device type. An iOS backup cannot be restored to Android.
2. If Restore from backup does not appear:
   • Remove or sign out of all accounts in Authenticator first, then try recovery again.
   • Important: removing accounts has no undo, and the device will no longer be able to verify sign-in for those accounts.
3. If the Instagram account does restore:
   • Third-party accounts such as Instagram use one-time password codes, and those codes are available once restored.
4. If no backup exists or restore fails:
   • Add the account again if the service still allows access by another sign-in or recovery method.
   • For a deleted Instagram authenticator code with no backup and no other sign-in method, recovery must be done through Instagram’s own account recovery options. Microsoft Authenticator cannot recreate that deleted Instagram code.
