All was fine then suddenly I could not get into Solitaire Prem. - It wants me to sign into xbox.. and then I get some other person's Gametag. I admit I have no idea what my gametag name is but I'm sure I would not have chosen what it's telling me. using windows 11

I have checked my sign in and password.. I downloaded a new copy of what the internet said to and my subscription was just paid a few weeks ago.

I'm not the most computer literate but I have to get this straight.. any suggestions.

    Hello Larry Lipner,

An unfamiliar Xbox gamertag does not necessarily mean you’re signed in to someone else’s account. Xbox may have assigned a gamertag when your profile was created.

Since reinstalling Solitaire did not help, could you check one thing first? In Microsoft Store, select your profile picture and check whether the signed-in account is the one that purchased Solitaire Premium. Then check whether that same account shows an active Premium subscription in Services & subscriptions.

If those match, please let me know whether Solitaire still shows the unfamiliar gamertag or asks you to sign in. That will help separate an account mismatch from a problem recognizing your subscription. Please don’t post your email address or payment details here.

Try these steps in order on the Windows 11 PC:

    1. Confirm the Microsoft account being used in Microsoft Store.
      • Open Microsoft Store.
      • Select the profile picture.
      • Make sure it shows the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the Solitaire Premium subscription.
      • If it is the wrong account, sign out and sign back in with the subscription account.
    2. Refresh Store licenses and updates.
      • In Microsoft Store, select Library.
      • Select Get updates.
      • Let Microsoft Store and related apps finish updating.
    3. Sign out and back in to both Store and Solitaire.
      • Sign out of Microsoft Store.
      • Open Microsoft Solitaire Collection and sign out there if possible.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Sign back in with the same Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
    4. If the Xbox sign-in shows an unexpected gamertag, verify which Microsoft account is actually signed in.
      • Open the Microsoft account dashboard and check the account details under Your info.
      • Microsoft requires sign-in with the exact email linked to that Xbox profile.
      • A gamertag alone is not enough to restore access.
    5. If the wrong account keeps appearing, use account recovery help.
      • If the email or username is no longer recognized, use the Sign-in Helper tool.
      • If the username has been forgotten, use the Microsoft account username lookup guidance.
    6. If Solitaire still shows ads or behaves as if Premium is missing, check for a Store connection issue.
      • This can happen when Solitaire is not connected to the correct Microsoft Store account even if Windows itself shows as signed in.
      • Recheck the Store account and repeat the sign-out/sign-in steps above.
    7. If apps from Microsoft Store are still failing on Windows 11, run the standard app fixes.
      • Close and reopen the app.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any available updates.
      • In Microsoft Store, go to Library > Get updates.
      • If needed, repair or reset the app from Windows app settings. Reinstalling is also supported from Microsoft Store > Library.

If the account is signing into a completely different Xbox identity every time, the most likely issue is that a different Microsoft account is being used somewhere in Store/Xbox sign-in. Start by correcting the Store account first, then sign back into Solitaire.

If the account details cannot be matched or recovered, use the guided Microsoft account recovery tools.
