Question

I have Microsoft 365 program, but I am not able to open the Word program.

• Go to https://aka.ms/SaRA-officeUninstallFromPC to open the Get Help App.
• When the tool opens, select Yes, and then click Next.
• Choose the option to uninstall Microsoft 365, then follow the steps.

Try these steps in order:

1. Restart the device, sign back in, and try opening Word again.
2. Repair Microsoft 365.
   • On Windows 11: right-click Start > Installed apps.
   • On Windows 10: right-click Start > Apps and Features.
   • Select Microsoft 365 or Office > Modify.
   • If prompted, choose:
     • Quick Repair first for a faster check.
     • If Word still does not open, run Online Repair for a more complete fix.
   • Follow the on-screen steps. A restart may be needed.
3. Install Windows updates.
   • Select Start.
   • Type Windows Update.
   • Select Check for updates.
   • Install any available updates.
4. If Word still will not open, uninstall and reinstall Office.
   • Microsoft provides an uninstall troubleshooter to remove Microsoft 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016 from Windows.
   • Restart the computer after uninstalling, then reinstall Office.

If Word opens but documents do not open correctly, open Word first and then use File > Open to open the document.
