I need to combine my Microsoft account with my husband's Microsoft account. I am on our Family plan, so there is no need to have two different Microsoft accounts. How do I do that without losing any of my photos on my One Drive?

Hi, @Dixie Schomer

Microsoft accounts cannot be combined or merged. Even with Microsoft 365 Family, you and your husband should keep your own separate Microsoft accounts.

Your OneDrive photos will remain under your Microsoft account. They will not be deleted just because you are sharing his Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

If your goal is for your husband to access the photos, you can share the OneDrive folders with him instead of moving them.

If you want to move the photos permanently to his OneDrive, make sure you keep a backup first and confirm everything copied successfully before deleting anything from your account.

To help narrow this down:

Are you trying to stop using your Microsoft account completely, or do you mainly want both of you to access the same photos?
Is your husband the owner of the Microsoft 365 Family subscription?

Since you are already included in his Microsoft 365 Family plan, you can simply keep your own Microsoft account and continue using it without paying for another subscription.

If you still want to close your Microsoft account, make sure you move anything you want to keep first.

Your OneDrive photos and files are tied to your Microsoft account and will not automatically move to your husband's account.

Download or copy the files you want to keep, upload them to your husband's OneDrive, and confirm everything is there before closing your account.

Also check whether you use your Microsoft account for Outlook email, purchases, Xbox, or other Microsoft services, because closing the account affects those too.

If you delete your account, you won't be able to sign in to any websites using your Microsoft account.
