    Hi,

You should follow the Q&A Assist procedure, but you must choose the option to keep nothing and remove everything; if you choose the option to keep files, the user account will be retained.

If you are unable to complete the Q&A Assist procedure, please let us know here.

    Thanks.

If the goal is to erase the PC and start over because the sign-in email was entered incorrectly, use Reset this PC from the Windows Recovery Environment. Warning: choosing Remove everything deletes all files, apps, and settings on the device.

    Steps:

    1. From the sign-in screen, select Power.
    2. Hold Shift and select Restart.
    3. After the PC restarts to Choose an option, select Troubleshoot.
    4. Select Reset this PC.
    5. Choose Remove everything for a complete reset, or Keep my files if personal files should remain.
    6. Choose Cloud download or Local reinstall.
    7. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the reset.

If the device is encrypted, the BitLocker recovery key is required to complete the reset.

Before resetting, these sign-in recovery options may help:

    • Use the Sign-in Helper to identify account problems.
    • If the email used for sign-in is unknown, use Forgot your username? to check which account the alias belongs to.
    • If access is blocked only by sign-in issues, Safe Mode can be used to test password sign-in because PIN and biometric sign-in are unavailable there.
