EXCEL AUTOSAVE

Question

Issue of autosave not working sometime in excel for iPad Pro; this has been happening since I updated last week.

• Happens with alla excel workbooks
• Workbook was initially on Dropbox but I moved it to local ipad files as I thought this could be a dropbox issue > doesn't work either way.
• iPadOS Version 27 / iPad Pro (11 inches) (3rd generation)
• small changes seem to save

What happens is that as soon as I have finished my modification and try to close excel, the app spins endlessly and dosesn't save ; same thing if I turn off the autosavec and try to save manually.

Microsoft only officially supports true AutoSave for files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint (the commercial version of OneDrive). Dropbox or “On My iPad” files aren't expected to have the same AutoSave functionality. But that does not explain the manual Save hanging.

There are multiple reports from this month with almost the exact same symptom. I believe this is an emerging bug issue on Microsoft side.

I cannot find any public/official acknowledgement from Microsoft at the moment, but I fear this is something we will have to wait for them to acknowledge and fix. Please make sure you go to Help> Feedback to report this so that it gets to engineer/product team.
