As of 10/08/2021 these are the supported Intel CPU when upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-supported-intel-processors
Windows 10 is fully supported for 4 more years.
For end users wanting to upgrade with unsupported hardware, BIOS, drive partitions, secure boot, TPM, etc. these are some options:
a) wait to see if there are further updates to the Intel and AMD supported CPU
b) upgrade now after modifying the registry and files so that the Windows upgrade assistant does not find the unsupported parameters
c) backup important files > perform a clean install > restore important files
The methods to upgrade an unsupported computer were reported in multiple websites.
There were many members that reported successful upgrades on very old hardware.
These included desktops, laptops, and tablets.
Installing Windows 11 in an unsupported computer may not benefit from the improved performance and security.
And unsupported computers may later have problems with each Windows updates and Microsoft Defender updates.
Each end user must judge the risks and benefits.
