A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
English-only support.
For a Microsoft personal account showing "too many times with an incorrect password" even after a password reset, the supported recovery path is:
- Use the Sign-in Helper to check the account state and get the next recovery action: Sign-in Helper
- If the password was reset but still is not accepted, use Recover your account and complete the identity verification flow:
- Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
- Choose where to receive the security code.
- Enter the code.
- Set a new password.
- Verify the sign-in name carefully, including the correct email domain, and if the primary alias is not recognized, try another alias or phone number on the account.
- If the account is actually locked, unlock it by signing in at Sign in to request a security code. Any phone number that can receive text messages can be used.
- If access still fails, use Contact Microsoft Support. Support can route the issue correctly, but support agents cannot send password reset links or directly change account details.
For a work or school account, password and sign-in recovery is handled differently and requires the IT admin or the work/school password reset flow.
