For the Personal subscription, the most likely causes are that it was purchased under a different Microsoft account, through a third party, or it is already set to expire instead of being actively managed.
Try this in order:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that was used to buy the Personal subscription.
- Find the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and select Manage.
- If Manage is available, select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel and follow the cancellation steps.
- During cancellation, refund eligibility is checked automatically.
- If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and no further cancellation is needed. Access typically continues until the shown expiration date, and no automatic charge should occur after that.
- If the Personal subscription does not appear or cannot be managed:
- Check whether it was bought with a different Microsoft personal account.
- Check whether it was purchased through Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Best Buy, Harvey Norman, or another third-party retailer. If so, cancellation and refunds must be handled by that seller, not through Microsoft.
- If there is an overdue balance on the payment method, that can block cancellation until the amount owed is paid.
For refund eligibility:
- For subscriptions purchased directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is determined during the cancellation flow.
- In most cases, a refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
- A refund of the most recent recurring billing charge may also be available if cancellation happens within 30 days after payment, limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.
- For Microsoft 365 Premium and Microsoft 365 Pro, in countries outside the listed prorated-refund regions, cancellation within 14 days of the initial purchase is the prorated refund window.
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, OneDrive, and ClipChamp, prorated refunds are not available in all other countries/regions outside the listed prorated-refund regions.
If the Personal subscription was purchased directly from Microsoft but still cannot be managed or refunded, use Microsoft guided support:
Also note: if Microsoft 365 is canceled, storage reverts to 5 GB of cloud storage and 15 GB of Outlook.com storage. If usage is above the free allowance, that can affect access to storage-related benefits.
