Cannot activate Azure for Students via GitHub Student Pack (Not Eligible error)

Hello,

I am a verified university student with an active GitHub Student Developer Pack. However, when attempting to claim the "Azure for Students" offer, the system automatically rejects me with this error:

"You're not eligible for an Azure free account".

The main issue is that because the system thinks | don't have an active subscription, it completely blocks me from creating a support ticket in the Azure portal to manually verify my academic status.

Could a Microsoft support moderator please open a private message with me or advise on how I can securely submit my student documents for manual verification?

Thank you.

I think GitHub verification doesn’t establish Azure for Students eligibility. Academic status is verified through your school email. The Azure for Students terms don’t list an option to upload student documents manually.

    Hi @AMEEN ZANBA,

This message is actually a different gate than academic verification, which is why your GitHub pack isn't helping. "You're not eligible for an Azure free account" is about the Microsoft account itself, before your student status is even checked. In most cases it's one of two things: the account's country or region isn't on the Azure for Students list, or the birthdate on the account shows you under 18.

    Try this first:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile and open Edit profile.
    2. Check the country or region is set to where you actually live and study, and that your birthdate is correct and shows you as 18 or older. If either was missing or wrong, fix it.
    3. Wait an hour for the change to propagate, then open https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students in a private browser window and try again with Sign in with GitHub.

If both were already correct and it still fails, then it's worth a manual look, and that's exactly what moderators here do. They'll open a private message to collect your account email and details, so please don't post those publicly.

Could you let me know which country your account is set to, and whether you've ever redeemed an Azure free account or Azure for Students on this account before? Both of those affect eligibility, and it tells us where to look next.
