As you can see from the attached image, it looks like the "Record automatically" toggle is missing completely form Teams. Now it does look like between the two screenshots that there is a version difference. Is there a new place for this toggle? I check the Teams admin center and that option is available for users to choose so i know it's not a back end setting. Any ideas?

Thanks for your information and the screenshots, @Matthew Knab.

I tested on my Teams client using the same version you reported (26260.1701.5139.3736) and I can still see the Record and transcribe automatically option under Meeting options. This suggests that the issue is likely not related to the Teams client version itself.

I recommend asking your IT administrator to verify the AutoRecording setting in the Teams Meeting Policy assigned to the affected users. Microsoft documentation states that if AutoRecording is disabled, the Record and transcribe automatically option won't appear in Meeting options.

Please let me know the results after trying the suggestions above.

Thank you and I wish you a successful day!

    Hi @Matthew Knab,

If the option is not present under Recording & transcription, could you please provide the following information?

    • Does the issue occur in the Teams desktop app only, or is it also present in Teams on the web?
    • If you're using the desktop app, what is the Teams client version on the affected device(s)?
    • Does the issue affect all users in your organization, or only specific users?
    • Is the issue reproducible with both newly created meetings and existing meetings?

This information will help determine whether the behavior is related to a Teams client version, a user-specific configuration, or a meeting policy setting.

In newer Teams versions, the Record automatically setting may no longer appear directly on the meeting scheduling page. To check it:

    • Open Microsoft Teams.
    • Go to Calendar.
    • Create a new meeting or open an existing meeting you've organized.
    • Select Meeting options.

    • Expand Recording & transcription.
    • Look for Record and transcribe automatically.

The Microsoft documentation notes that there isn't a dedicated admin policy for Record and transcribe automatically. However, administrators can control whether organizers see this option in Meeting options > Recording & transcription by using the Auto recording setting in Teams meeting policies through PowerShell. If the option is missing for affected users, it may be worth checking their assigned Teams meeting policy and the Auto recording configuration, in addition to comparing Teams client versions.

Looking forward to your response so we can get this sorted out for you together.
