    Please try these steps:

    1. Open your browser and visit the Microsoft Account security page (https://account.microsoft.com/security).
    2. Sign in to your Microsoft account if prompted.
    3. Go to Security and select Advanced security options. Alternatively, choose Manage how I sign in from the Account Security section if it's available.
    4. Scroll to the Ways to prove who you are section.
    5. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify. Add Another Way to Sign in
    6. Choose the Face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key option from the pop-up menu. Select the option to Sign In
    7. Complete the Windows Hello verification using your face, fingerprint, or PIN, depending on how Windows Hello is configured on your device.
    8. Once the setup is complete, the passkey will be linked to your Microsoft account and can be used for future sign-ins.

If you have a Password manager like Bitwarden, in the next step you will be prompted to save it there. Depending on your choice, select the relevant option.

To create a passkey for Microsoft, use the steps that match the account type.

    For a Microsoft personal account:

    1. Sign in to Advanced Security Options at https://account.live.com/proofs/manage.
    2. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
    3. Select Face, Fingerprint, PIN, or Security Key.
    4. Follow the prompts on the device where the passkey will be created.
    5. Select Continue or Create to save it in the suggested location, or select Change or Save another way to choose a different location.
    6. Complete the save process with the device unlock method, such as face, fingerprint, or PIN.

For a work or school account:

    1. Sign in to Security info at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
    2. Select Add sign-in method.
    3. Select Passkey or Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator.
    4. Follow the prompts on the device where the passkey will be created.
    5. Select Continue or Create to save it in the suggested location, or select Change or Save another way to choose a different location.
    6. Complete the save process with face, fingerprint, or PIN.

On Windows, if registering a Microsoft Entra passkey from Security info:

    1. Open a browser and sign in to Security info.
    2. Complete multifactor authentication.
    3. Select Add sign-in method > Choose a method > Passkey.
    4. Select Next.
    5. Choose where to save the passkey.
    6. After verification, Windows stores the passkey in the local Windows Hello container.

Passkeys let sign-in use the device’s secure method, such as face, fingerprint, or PIN, instead of typing a password.
