In windows 11 26H2 build 26300.9550. Experience pack 1000.26100.3720

When I click a browser link or article it will spin for a bit then Opps something went wrong. This is driving me nuts. It happens in Edge and Firefox

Thanks

Since the issue happens in both Edge and Firefox, start with system-level and browser checks that are supported for Windows 11:

    1. Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Find Program Compatibility Troubleshooter and select Run.
      • Complete the on-screen steps.
    2. Check Windows Update
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Install any available updates, then restart the PC.
    3. Check network and VPN
      • Confirm the connection is stable.
      • If a VPN is in use, disconnect it temporarily and test again. A VPN can cause browser access problems, including 403-related failures.
    4. In Edge, make sure it is fully updated
      • Open Edge.
      • Go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
      • Apply any available update.
    5. Clear Edge browsing data
      • In Edge, go to Settings and more > History > Open history page.
      • Select Delete browsing data.
      • Choose All time.
      • Select Browsing history and Cached images and files, then select Clear now.
      • If needed, repeat and clear all browsing data.
    6. Disable Edge extensions
      • Extension issues can interfere with opening links and pages.
      • Disable all extensions, restart Edge, and test again.
    7. Restart the PC
      • Restarting can clear temporary browser and system issues.
    8. Scan for malware and verify security software
      • Run a manual scan with Windows Security.
      • If third-party security software is installed, update it and test again.
    9. Repair Microsoft Edge
      • This should not affect browser data or settings.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes > Repair.
      • This requires internet access and administrative rights.
      • If Modify is unavailable, Edge may be managed by the organization.
    10. If Edge still fails, reinstall it
    • If updates continue to fail or Edge remains broken, reinstall the latest version from Microsoft.

If the same link fails in both Edge and Firefox after these steps, test whether the site opens in another browser session and whether the problem affects all sites or only specific articles. That helps separate a browser problem from a website or network problem.
