    Hi @Jolene Raitt

I understand that the error began appearing after you stopped using your work account, but the old account or device registration information may still be stored on your personal computer.

Based on the information I found, error code 700003 is commonly accompanied by a message stating that the organization has deleted the device. Reported cases indicate that this can occur when the computer still has a local connection to the work account, but the corresponding device record has been deleted or disabled in the organization’s Microsoft Entra directory.

However, could you please share a screenshot of the complete error message? Before posting it, please hide your email address, Tenant ID, Device ID, and any other personal or organizational information.

As a first step, you can check the following:

    1. Open Windows Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. Check whether your former employer’s account is still listed.
    3. If you no longer work for the company and no longer need access to its resources, select the account and choose Disconnect.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Open Outlook and sign in again with your personal account.

Microsoft explains that when a work or school account is added to Windows, it can be used to sign in across multiple desktop applications, and the device may also be registered in the organization’s directory.

Before disconnecting the account, make sure you no longer need access to the company’s email, files, or applications. If you still need the account, contact your former employer’s IT department and ask them to check the device status in Microsoft Entra instead of removing the connection yourself.

    Please keep me updated.

Error code 700003 means the device object was not found in the tenant directory. This commonly happens when a work account was previously registered on a device and that device object was later deleted from the organization tenant.

For a private computer that previously had a work account attached, the supported fix is to remove the old work registration and register again only if that work account is still needed.

    1. On Windows, go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. Select the old work or school account.
    3. Select Disconnect to remove that organization connection from the device.
    4. Restart the computer.

If the old work account still appears in Microsoft Authenticator on mobile:

    1. Open Microsoft Authenticator.
    2. Go to Settings > Device Registration.
    3. If the old work account is still registered, Unregister device.

If Microsoft Authenticator is still prompting or showing sign-in failures:

    1. Open the app and make sure it launches normally and the account list is correct.
    2. Make sure notifications are enabled.
    3. Make sure the app is updated.
    4. If needed, remove the old account from Authenticator and try sign-in again only for accounts that are still in use.

If the errors are appearing in Outlook on the personal computer after the work account was removed, check whether Outlook or Windows still has that old work account connected. Removing the old work/school account from Access work or school is the key step from the documented resolution.

If the device still needs access to the former employer tenant, the device must be registered again in that organization’s Microsoft Entra ID by that organization’s administrators.
