Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
If the old Blueyonder mailbox is still active, add it to Outlook as an email account first. In Outlook for Windows, account settings can be changed or updated through Mail in Windows Control Panel or from Outlook.
If the goal is to bring older mail already saved in an Outlook data file, use the method that matches the Outlook version:
- New Outlook for Windows
- Go to Settings > Data files > Import.
- Under Outlook Data File (.pst), select Get started > Select file.
- Choose the
.pstfile. - Select the folder to import from, choose how to handle duplicates, then choose the destination mailbox and folder.
- Select Import.
- Classic Outlook for Windows
- Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
- Select Import from another program or file > Next.
- Select Outlook Data File (.pst) > Next.
- Browse to the
.pstfile, choose how to handle duplicates, then continue. - Select the Microsoft 365 mailbox to import into, or choose Import items into the current folder.
- If only access to the old
.pstis needed without importing- In new Outlook: Settings > Data files > Outlook Data Files > Add file.
- This opens the
.pstso its contents can be browsed and messages can be moved manually.
Important limits for new Outlook for Windows:
- The account used in new Outlook must have a Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Outlook Data Files are not supported with the ARM version of new Outlook.
- New Outlook cannot be running in Safe or Recovery mode.
- To open a
.pstin new Outlook, classic Outlook must also be installed, and both must use the same architecture: 32-bit or 64-bit.
If the old Blueyonder mail is not in a .pst file, Outlook cannot import it with these steps. In that case, the mailbox must first be added as an account if it is still available from the provider.
