To "unmerge" them and remove the old email, the user needs to manage the account aliases.

    Steps to separate the emails:

Log in to the Microsoft account at [account.live.com/names/manage](https://account.live.com/names/manage) using the current primary email address.

Under the Account aliases section, a list of all email addresses connected to this specific account will be displayed.

Locate the correct email address that should be the main login and click Make primary next to it (if it isn't already the primary).

Locate the dad's email address or the old email address and click Remove next to it.

    CRITICAL WARNING BEFORE REMOVING:

If the email being removed is a third-party address (like @gmail.com or @yahoo.com), it is perfectly safe to click Remove. It will simply disconnect from the Microsoft account, and the email itself will continue to work normally.

    • If the email being removed is a Microsoft domain (like @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com), clicking Remove will permanently delete that email address and its inbox from Microsoft's servers. It cannot be recovered, recreated, or moved to another account. If the dad's email is a Microsoft domain, removing it will destroy his email account. To "unmerge" them and remove the old email, the user needs to manage the account aliases.
