Hi. I need to reset the password for my personal MS 365 account, as I forgot it. MFA is enabled on my account, and my backup options are my phone, the Authenticator app, and an account recovery code.

When I check the sign-in helper, it says the account is blocked because I entered an incorrect password too many times. After about 24 hours, when I try to reset my password, I receive an SMS code that the system accepts, but because of MFA, it then asks me to enter a code generated by the Authenticator app.

Unfortunately, the code generated by the app is not accepted, and it says, 'There is a temporary problem with the server. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again." I have an account recovery code that I wrote when I set up MFA, and it shows the same message when I use it. After one ot two attempts, it locks again, and I can't even get a text.

I reached out to the MS support team, and this is their response: Based on the error you are experiencing, and after discussing it with our higher-level team, they advised that you submit your inquiry to our authenticator app team.

I used the Send Feedback option in the authenticator app and still haven't received a response from Microsoft.

I hope there's a way forward; the Authenticator team can help.
