For a suddenly blurry laptop camera on Windows 11, use this order:
- Clean the camera lens A blurry image can be caused by a dirty or blocked lens.
- Test in the Windows Camera app
Open Start > Camera and check the preview.
- If it is blurry there too, the issue is system-wide.
- If it is only blurry in one app, the problem is likely that app’s settings.
- Adjust camera or app resolution settings Blurry or low-quality video can be caused by resolution settings in the camera app or video conferencing app.
- Check internet quality for video calls If the blur mainly happens in meetings, ensure the internet connection is strong and stable.
- Check for Windows and optional driver updates Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Then go to Advanced options > Optional updates and look for camera driver updates. Restart after installing updates.
- Update the camera driver Go to Start > Device Manager > Cameras. Right-click the camera > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers. Restart the PC after the update.
- If the problem started after an update, roll back the driver Go to Device Manager > right-click the camera > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver. Restart and test again.
- If needed, uninstall and reinstall the camera driver In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall Device. Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device, then in Device Manager select Action > Scan for hardware changes. Restart and test again.
If the image is still blurry in the Camera app after cleaning the lens and reinstalling the correct driver, that points to a possible hardware problem with the camera or lens.
