Hibernate mode

Question

I often don't shut my laptop down at the end of the day and have used hibernate mode instead. It has worked great for years until a month or two ago. I would turn off wi-fi and put it into airplane mode before putting it into hibernate mode. All of a sudden when I would put it into hibernate I came out in the morning and the fan was running and was definitely not in hibernate. The next day I paid more attention and when I put it into hibernate mode within a few seconds the login screen would appear. Sometimes after trying it a few times it would go into the hibernate mode but often it wouldn't. Shortly after this started Microsoft did an update and then hibernate once again worked as it did before but then within a couple of weeks the problem returned. I'm not sure if it was a result of another Microsoft update or not but would like to find a solution to the problem.
