A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Because this is Microsoft 365 purchased through GoDaddy and the new phone receives no Authenticator code, have the GoDaddy Microsoft 365 administrator reset your MFA methods, register Authenticator again, and then configure forwarding in Outlook on the web.
1. Reset Authenticator access
- Ask the person who administers your GoDaddy Microsoft 365 account to sign in to GoDaddy and follow Reset my multi-factor authentication method. If you are the only administrator and cannot sign in, contact GoDaddy Support and request that they clear/reset the MFA methods for your Microsoft 365 mailbox. This is the reseller-specific recovery route when the old phone is unavailable and no other verification method works.^1^
- After the reset, sign in to the GoDaddy email account again.
- When prompted to configure MFA, open Microsoft Authenticator on the new phone, choose Add account → Work or school account, and scan the displayed QR code.
- Complete a test approval before removing any remaining old-phone registration.
If the sign-in page offers a working alternative such as SMS or another authentication method, use it to access Security info, delete the old Authenticator registration, and add the new phone instead.^2^
Restoring an Authenticator backup alone may not finish this process: for Microsoft 365 work accounts, only the account name is restored, and the account must be signed in and set up again on the new device.^3^
2. Forward GoDaddy email to the other Outlook address
After access is restored:
- Open the GoDaddy Microsoft 365 mailbox in Outlook on the web.
- Select Settings (gear icon).
- Select Mail → Forwarding.
- Turn on Enable forwarding.
- Enter the other Outlook email address.
- Optionally select Keep a copy of forwarded messages if messages should remain in the GoDaddy mailbox.
- Select Save.^4^
- Send a test message to the GoDaddy address and check both the Inbox and Junk/Spam folder of the destination account.
Forwarding does not merge or “link” the accounts; it automatically sends incoming GoDaddy mailbox messages to the other address.
