    Hi, @Adele Sorensen

Have you already checked whether Outlook has any pending updates?

To check, open the Microsoft Store, select “Downloads” or “Library,” then click “Get updates” to check for updates to Outlook.

You can also open Outlook and go to Settings (Gear Icon from top right) > “General” > “About Outlook” (if available) to check the version information.

Are you asking how to confirm that you have the latest update installed, or whether you are already using the new Outlook for Windows?

Click “Add comment” to let me know.

    Thanks!

The new Outlook and the latest Outlook update are different things: first identify which Outlook app you have, then check its version or updates.

    Identify your Outlook app

Open Outlook and look in the upper-right corner:

    • Settings (gear icon) is present: You have new Outlook for Windows.
    • No Settings gear, but there is a File tab: You have classic Outlook for Windows. ^1^

You can also open Start and search for Outlook. Windows may show both Outlook and Outlook (classic) because the two apps can be installed side by side.

    Check the installed version

    New Outlook

    1. Select Settings in the upper-right corner.
    2. Select General.
    3. Select About Outlook.
    4. The installed version information appears on the right. ^1^

New Outlook features roll out automatically; Microsoft stopped including version numbers in its release notes beginning January 9, 2026. ^2^

To ensure Microsoft Store updates are enabled:

    1. Open Start and search for Microsoft Store.
    2. Select your Profile picture.
    3. Select Store Settings.
    4. Turn on App updates. ^3^

    Classic Outlook

    1. Select File.
    2. Select Office Account. If that option is absent, select Help.
    3. Find the version and build under Product Information.
    4. Select About Outlook if you also need to see whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit. ^1^

To check for the latest classic Outlook update:

    1. Go to File > Office Account.
    2. Select Update Options > Update Now.
    3. Wait for either You’re up to date! or Updates were installed. If necessary, select Enable Updates first. ^4^

If Update Options is missing and only About appears, updates may be controlled by a volume license or organizational policy.
