That thread was specific to certain scenario: iOS and DEP. Is that your scenario? Also, as noted there, this is not required by Intune, it is required by iOS.
Migrate Mobile Devices from Airwatch to Intune
Hi All,
Is there any anyway to migrate mobile devices from Airwatch to Intune without wiping the device.
As per latest 2020 comments Devices are required to be wiped for enrolling into Intune: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/150dfe26-c40f-491a-a442-2d4674a14f94/airwatch-to-intune-migration?forum=microsoftintuneprod
Please advise.
TIA

2021-10-27T01:17:09.593+00:00 @Swati Arora , From your description, I know the devices are iOS device and enrollment method is DEP which is called ADE now. Based as I know, before ADE is used, the device must be wiped to return it to an out-of-box (new) state. Here is an article for the reference:

2022-05-24T13:33:04.157+00:00 Hi Good day!
May I know if the Airwatch policies can also be migrated to MS Intunes? Has anyone here done that?
Thank you! -

2022-09-15T16:03:38.037+00:00 Hi,
I am also in this situation, migrating from Airwatch to inTune.
What I am trying to do is avoid the wiping of the device (as in a complete reset to factory defaults) and then re-enrolling to inTune once the serial numbers from DEP have synced with inTune.
Is there no way to do an Enterprise wipe in Airwatch, which removes all MDM data and apps from the phone, install company portal and then get the user to sign into that, and then once the user has completed that, change the device from being "Personal" as that is what I assume it does by default this way, and change it to "Corporate" ?
Would that not accomplish the what we are looking for? Would it not give the end result of the same thing as a complete wipe of the phone and starting from scratch?
Thanks
