    Hi,

I will walk through a few steps with you. Some of these are just to help figure out what is wrong, not to fix it right away. So if nothing changes after a step, that is normal. I will keep going until we solve it.

    1. You say Edge Search bar - do you mean the address bar?

I would appreciate it if you could share a screenshot of the search bar you are seeking help for, since a picture says 1000 words.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

If the microphone and camera icons disappeared from your Windows search bar, try restarting your computer first.

If they’re still missing, check for Windows updates and make sure your microphone and camera permissions are turned on under Settings > Privacy & security.

The steps may depend on your Windows version.

There is no supported Windows 10 setting to restore dedicated microphone and camera buttons inside the taskbar search box; Windows only provides controls for showing the search box itself, while voice and visual search are available separately.

    1. Right-click an empty area of the taskbar.
    2. Select Search.
    3. Select Show search box.

Windows 10’s documented taskbar options allow Search to be hidden, shown as an icon, or displayed as the full search box; they do not include settings for microphone or camera buttons within that box.^1^

If the full box returns but the two buttons remain absent, their previous presentation has been changed or removed; restarting Explorer, rebuilding the icon cache, or changing camera permissions is not documented as a way to restore them.

    Use voice search instead

For speech input on Windows 10:

    1. Select Start → Settings → Time & Language → Speech.
    2. Under Microphone, select Get started and complete microphone setup.
    3. In taskbar Search, type Windows Speech Recognition and open it.
    4. Complete the setup wizard, then use speech recognition for voice input.^2^

    Use camera/visual search instead

The supported camera-based search is Bing Visual Search:

    1. Open Bing Images in a browser.
    2. Select the camera icon in its search box.
    3. Take a photo with the webcam, upload an image, drag an image into the box, or paste an image or URL.

A webcam is required to capture a new photo.^3^

Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025, so changes to its Bing-enhanced search-box interface may not receive a Windows 10 restoration option.^1^
