Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
Good day Waran,
Just to gently clarify before going any further, this forum is separate from Microsoft Support. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user‑to‑user support forum.
To help me better understand the situation and assist you effectively, could you please share a few details such as:
1/ Does the error occur in Teams on the web or the Teams desktop app?
2/ Are you using Windows or macOS?
3/ Are you signing in to your own organization or accessing another organization as a guest?
This will help me better understand the context and provide more targeted support. Any additional information will help me better understand and support you.
The AADSTS90023 error means the sign in request couldn't be processed correctly. This can happen because of outdated sign in information, a cached session, a network issue, or an organization policy.
Please try the steps below:
Option 1: Test Teams on the web
- Open an InPrivate or private browser window > Go to https://teams.cloud.microsoft/ > Sign in with the same account.
If Teams works in the browser, the issue is related to the Teams app on the device.
Option 2: Refresh the sign-in session
- Sign out of Teams > Close the application completely > Restart the device.
- Open Teams and sign in again > Complete any MFA verification if prompted.
Option 3: Clear Teams cache
- This article provides further guidance on the topic: Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
Option 4: Check the connection
- Temporarily disconnect any VPN or proxy unless it is required by your organization, try a different network, verify that the device's date, time and time zone are correct and then sign in again.
Option 5: If you are accessing another organization as a guest
- Sign in with the account that originally accepted the guest invitation > Complete any required verification setup before switching to the guest organization.
Option 6: Contact your organization's IT administrator
- If the issue occurs in both the Teams desktop app and Teams on the web, please contact your IT administrator and ask them to verify that the account is active, a valid Teams license is assigned, access to the organization is permitted, no Conditional Access or authentication policies are blocking the sign-in and that the failed sign-in attempt appears in the Microsoft Entra sign-in logs.
- If the cause is still unclear, the administrator can open a support request through the Microsoft 365 admin center > Support > Help & Support and provide the error details together with information about the affected account, device, operating system and troubleshooting already completed.
