A high-level, general-purpose programming language, created as an extension of the C programming language, that has object-oriented, generic, and functional features in addition to facilities for low-level memory manipulation.
14.11.25325 refers to the Visual C++ runtime files shipped with Visual Studio 2017 version 15.3, so for running an application, install Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ v14 Redistributable rather than searching for that exact legacy build.
Download the supported runtime
Choose the package matching the application’s architecture—not merely the Windows architecture:
- 64-bit application: vc_redist.x64.exe
- 32-bit application: vc_redist.x86.exe
- ARM64 application: vc_redist.arm64.exe
If the architecture is unknown on 64-bit Windows, installing both x86 and x64 is appropriate because 32-bit and 64-bit applications use different packages.
Visual Studio 2017 and later share compatible v14 runtime files, and the installed Redistributable must be the same version or newer than the build tools used to create the application. Microsoft therefore recommends the latest supported v14 package for applications built with Visual Studio 2017 and later.^1^
The 14.11.25325 number specifically appeared as the VC\Redist\MSVC\14.11.25325 directory in Visual Studio 2017 version 15.3; its compiler/toolset versions were different.^2^
If an installer requires exactly 14.11.25325
- Sign in to Welcome to Dev Essentials.
- Open Downloads.
- Search for Visual C++ Redistributable and locate the required legacy version.
- Download only a Microsoft-hosted, Microsoft-signed installer.
Microsoft documents the legacy download pattern for versions 14.10–14.19, but recommends obtaining old installers through Dev Essentials. Do not use third-party DLL or redistributable download sites.^3^
If you need the compiler rather than the runtime
For compiling C++ code, install the MSVC Build Tools through Visual Studio Installer:
- Open Visual Studio Installer.
- Select Modify.
- Select Desktop development with C++.
- Open Individual components, search for
MSVC, and look for the required older toolset.
Only older toolsets still exposed by the installer can be selected there; out-of-support versions may be labelled accordingly or removed.^4^ There is no documented standalone Microsoft download specifically named MSVC Build Tools 14.11.25325—that number identifies the redistributable directory, not the compiler toolset.
