Hello everyone, Ive recently found myself unable to receive any codes sent to my email for a password recovery.

This is happening to the account that was previously stolen from me. I couldn’t even use my email as a log-in because my alias was changed. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/6033669/compromised-microsoft-account?page=1&source=docs#answer-12997898

I don’t know what happened but Ive found myself able to do it again, although my password was in fact changed and for some reason I can’t get a verification code sent to reset the password.

I tried different tools provided by Microsoft, Ive checked all potential reasons Microsoft provides for it, I searched through every bin in my mail. It’s simply not being sent.

    Hello,

    1. When you try to reset your password, does Microsoft show the correct recovery email address, or an email address you don't recognize?
    2. Do you have access to any other Security Verification methods, such as your recovery Phone number or Authenticator? Microsoft is phasing out the SMS verification methods, so you may not receive the verification code through your phone number now.
    3. Did you check your Junk or SPAM folder to see if Microsoft's verification emails ended up there?

If you are still having trouble receiving the verification code, your account might have been temporarily suspended due to the unusual activity. You may submit the account recovery form here.

Important: The account recovery form can only be used if two-step verification isn't turned on.

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you, and if you are not verified, you will need to submit the Account Recovery form again. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

If the account is not sending recovery codes after repeated attempts, the supported next steps are:

    1. Stop making repeated code requests. Excessive or repetitive requests can trigger a temporary block where Microsoft will not send codes.
    2. Check the correct mailbox and the junk/spam folders. Valid verification emails come from @accountprotection.microsoft.com.
    3. If the recovery address is another Microsoft account such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com, open the recovery flow in one InPrivate window and open the recovery mailbox in a second InPrivate window. This avoids being signed out of the first account while checking the second.
    4. If the listed verification method is no longer accessible, select I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the prompts to replace the security info.
    5. If the password is unknown and none of the security methods are accessible, use the account recovery flow. Microsoft directs this scenario to the account recovery form and sign-in helper tool.
    6. If the account was flagged because of unusual activity, code delivery can be temporarily blocked and may resolve after some time.
    7. Microsoft support agents cannot send verification codes, reset links, or change account details for this scenario.

For a stolen account scenario, the practical path is:

    • Try password reset from the Microsoft account sign-in page using Forgot password?
    • Choose an available verification method and select Get code.
    • If no valid method is available or the shown methods are unfamiliar, use the sign-in helper tool.
    • If access to all security info was lost, choose I don't have any of these and follow the replacement process.

If the account can still be signed in with the current password but some security info is lost, go to Additional security options and add a new way to sign in or verify, confirm it with the code sent there, then remove the old method.
